We now have a General B CA construction license
Let me start by stating the obvious:
Starting a small business is no easy feat! Over the last six-plus months our team at California Custom Cellars has made great strides, overcoming numerous challenges to reach our goals. This is a tremendous credit to our team’s skill, commitment and perseverance!
One of these goals is the acquisition of a General B CA construction license to expand our business to offer turnkey design and build capabilities. Well, we’re excited to announce that we are now a fully licensed, bonded and insured General B license holder (champagne popping!) In the world of custom wine cellars this is a big deal. Because these projects are complex, requiring alignment of various trades including custom features, it is ideal to have one expert firm handling all facets of the work. This helps to ensure that everyone is on the same page as you plan, construct and finish your custom wine cellar project.
Ultimately this means you will end up with a better-functioning, better looking custom project!
In addition to a better final product, working with a licensed design and build company like California Custom Cellars eliminates finger-pointing between trades over “who is responsible for what?” This happens all the time on construction projects! Imagine the following scenario:
Custom Wine Cellar A:
Designed and built by a turnkey custom wine cellar company. The wine cellar is also serviced by this same company. If Client has any issues, there is one company to call! Even more, since this firm specializes in only custom wine cellar design and builds…they are much more likely to successfully remedy any issues.
Custom Wine Cellar B:
Designed and built by numerous companies contracted separately by client: A general contractor, HVAC subcontractor, glass subcontractor, finish carpenter, insulation contractor, electrical sub, plumbing sub etc. If there is an issue with this cellar, who does the client call? If you’re thinking GC, they may want to pass the buck to another vendor. Sound familiar?! You can see how finger-pointing can lead to problems and headaches! Even more, these various trades work on a broad scope of projects in their respective lines of work. They rarely work on wine cellars, so the craftsmanship is not “expert” and the remedies to any issues harder to identify and implement.
The simple point here is:
You should only work with a licensed, specialty firm whose sole focus is the successful completion of beautiful, functional wine cellars! Ask yourself, if you were building a pool, sauna, home theater or spa…would you hire a firm specializing in this work, or would you try to parse the job out to various subcontractors and trades with varying levels of experience, skill and accountability? Exactly. Working with a licensed, specialty firm will save you time, money unnecessary aggravation!
We work with many clients who undertake home improvement projects, home renovations or complete home rebuilds. Regardless of your circumstance, we understand that these projects can be stressful, costly and time-consuming. Custom wine cellar projects, in particular, are challenging by nature (refrigeration, lots of trades, custom elements, moisture mitigation etc) and can be a real burden on your progress and peace of mind if they are mismanaged.
Not sure if you’re working with a licensed contractor?
Make sure their business name checks out below!
CSLB’s website, www.cslb.ca.gov or www.CheckTheLicenseFirst.com, provides the ability to look up a contractor by license number, name, or business name, and obtain the licensee’s contact information, license status, CSLB legal actions (if any), classifications held, business type, and bond and workers’ compensation insurance information. Home Improvement Salesperson registrations also are listed on the website’s license look-up page.
